If you have followed national/global news concerning the denomination please read the original sources and do not rely upon secular news outlets. There is no “agreement” for the church to split, there is a new proposal that will go before General Conference in May. This new proposal called the Protocol of Reconciliation & Grace Through Separation is one of many proposals that will be before the voting body in May.
The reason this proposal is getting so much news is because it seems to have wide support from the various advocacy/support groups in the church that come from all sides of our ongoing disagreement. No one knows for certain what will happen at General Conference, only God has that information.
Leading up to and continuing after General Conference 2020 we will live out our faith and continue our ministry of disciple-making.
